About

The objectives of everything documented here are to:

  1. Share my approach to work,

  2. Provide uncompromising points of view,

  3. Be a resource for the community, and

  4. Scale my reach.

It is extremely unlikely that anything captured here is new, especially considering the number of books, blog posts, articles and videos out there. This is therefore not an attempt at anything new but rather a view into how I work, to provide a sense of what it is like to work with me. It is also uncompromising, and a reliable indicator of the position I will take in a debate, thereby allowing actual debate to start at a deeper level. Hopefully this combination will prove valuable to interested individuals, regardless of their journey and point of view. Capturing my thoughts here will also scale my reach without repetition.

Everything here I experienced directly, usually more than once, and it is therefore an accurate view into how I approach work. Some of the ideas are uniquely mine, while most are an amalgamation of what I learned from others. It is extremely likely that you will enjoy working with me if, on average, the content resonates with you. It is also extremely likely that you will not enjoy my company if you don’t, on average, agree with the content.

Collaboratively documenting concepts always involves compromises, and that is a good thing because it has to be team and situation specific. That does however mean the documentation is frequently not exactly your own point of view. Everything captured here is exactly me, no compromises. In some cases I feel it is a better representation than what has been captured elsewhere, and in other cases it might be of lower quality because others have more evolved views. This uncompromised view will make it easy to anticipate the position I would take in a debate, allowing us to start at a deeper level when we do.

The effort and discomfort of capturing this content will be worth it if even just one other person finds it valuable. Hopefully it can be a starting point to those that are new, confirmation to those that are like minded, and a challenging perspective to those seeking to test their ideas. Above all, I hope this inspires leaders to aim higher and candidates to give different (non textbook) answers in interviews.

Finally, this content is aimed at scaling my reach, so that I don’t have to go individual to individual, team to team, or organization to organization, repeating the same base message. Here too, it will allow us to engage at a deeper level when we do meet.
